What is TED?
TED is a non-profit organisation that follows the slogan 'Ideas Worth Spreading'. It usually is in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design (TED) converged, and today covers almost all topics – from science to business to global issues – in more than 100 languages. Additionally, TEDx where 'x' stands for independently organised TED event, helps share ideas around the world. TED is a global community, that welcomes people from every discipline and culture eager to seek a deeper understanding of the world. It strongly believes in the power of ideas and that it can change attitudes, lives and, ultimately, the world.

What is TEDx?
TEDx is a grassroots initiative, created in the spirit of TED’s mission to research and discover ‘ideas worth spreading.’ TEDx brings the spirit of TED to local communities around the globe through TEDx events. They are organised by passionate individuals who seek to uncover new ideas and share the latest research that sparks conversations in their communities. TEDx events include live speakers and recorded TED Talks and are organised independently under a free licence granted by TED.

TEDxMGMU:
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a local, self-organised event program that brings people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event, TEDxMGMU, is independently organised under this framework. At TEDxMGMU, TED Talk videos and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussions and connections within our community. While TED provides general guidance for the TEDx program, each TEDx event, including ours, is independently organised.
Solstice: Where Change Begins
Symbolizing moments of transformation, the word 'solstice' comes from the Latin word 'solstitium,' meaning 'Sun stands still,' because the apparent movement of the Sun's path north or south pauses before changing direction. Just as the Sun appears to stop at the solstices before shifting its course, We also experience moments in life where we pause, reflect, and then embark on new journeys. Our path is marked by both highs and lows: the highs are like sun-lit peaks, filling us with pride, hope, and inspiration, while the lows challenge our strength. Each phase offers valuable lessons, providing a complete picture of the human experience. 'Solstice' reflects these moments of transition, reminding us that true change often begins in the darkest times, guiding us towards the light.
